How does a HydraFacial™ work?
A HydraFacial™ is a patented skin treatment exclusively available at Health & Co. in Malta. It’s also sometimes called “hydradermabrasion” because it involves microdermabrasion-like exfoliation paired with hydrating serums.
The treatment would be divided into three key sections, the first being Cleanse + Peel. HydraFacial™ uncovers a new layer of skin with gentle exfoliation and relaxing resurfacing. The Activ-4™ serum removes dead skin cells to reveal healthy skin and the GlySal™, a mixture of glycolic and salicylic acids, delivers the benefits of a peel without post-peel scaling. This professional procedure may help treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne, dryness, and wrinkles.
The second step is to Extract + Hydrate. The HydraFacial™ removes debris from pores with painless suction and nourishes with intense moisturisers that quench skin. The patented, automated vortex suction painlessly cleans out pores with the exclusive Beta-HD™ serum and Antiox+™ serum nourishes and protects with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.
And finally, the third step is to Fuse + Protect. A HydraFacial™ saturates the skin’s surface with antioxidants and peptides to maximise your glow. Targeted, proprietary skin solutions are delivered to address specific skin concerns.
The noninvasive procedure may be similar in principle to a regular facial you might get from another clinic or a spa but it is said to provide more dramatic results. This is achieved by a mechanized wand used on your skin to deeply clean and exfoliate while delivering serums customized to your skin type.
HydraFacial™ is SURELY worth the hype, so read on to learn more about the potential benefits and how it compares to similar treatments.
Patients may maintain results at home with Daily Essentials™ featuring the same ingredients used in the treatments with Zo™ Skin Health.
What are the benefits of a HydraFacial™?
HydraFacial™ is said to help improve overall skin texture, tone & appearance. This is due to the deep exfoliation that cleans your pores, removing debris & allowing for better penetration of face serums tailored to your skin type.

It appeals to nearly all ages, complexions, and concerns
-
“This is nice for teenagers with acne; adults with pimples, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation; and for older patients with sun damage and even flaky pre-cancerous spots,” says Ellen Marmur, an associate clinical professor in both the department of dermatology and the department of genetics and genomic research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

The experience and results are super-consistent
-
No matter where in the world you get HydraFacial™, you’re guaranteed a high-tech facial that delivers consistent results, because it’s not as technician-dependant as other kinds of facials, so you can count on it time and time again.
Many dermatologists are wary of offering traditional facials in the office, as outcomes can vary, with some patients getting quite inflamed, or even scarring from overly aggressive techniques, but the HydraFacial™ is consistently safe and effective.

Extractions without side effects
-
HydraFacial™ has a strict no-torture policy; it’s never painful – in fact, patients compare the sensation to a light massage. By combining vortex pressure with a clog-purging solution of salicylic acid , willow bark extract, and anti-inflammation Tasmanian pepper, the device suctions gunk from the pores, and at the end, you can actually see all that was removed.

-
It’s infinitely customisable
-
Boosters, which come at an extra cost, are just one way our Hydrafacialist can tailor this treatment to really focus on the individual’s priorities. A short round of LED light therapy following the HydraFacial™ will be used, again personalising it to the individual, shining blue light on acne or red light to build collagen and calm the redness in the skin.
HydraFacial™ is an effective technique for treating both acne & acne scars, rosacea, anti-ageing concerns as well as hyperpigmentation.
HydraFacial™ is also great for removing blackheads since dead skin cells contribute to black heads. This noninflammatory type of acne may benefit from the same exfoliating & extracting methods used in the HydraFacial™.
HydraFacial™ side effects & precautions
While HydraFacial™ is said to be free of any complications, you may feel light pressure from the wand during the procedure, however unlike any other cosmetic treatments, HydraFacial™ doesn’t cause pain or redness.
In theory, a HydraFacial™ is designed to help address excess sebum (oil) & dead skin cells which may lead to breakouts. This treatment may also help clear impurities during skin purging that may happen after a deep exfoliation.
It is of utmost importance that you let your provider know if you have extremely sensitive skin or are allergic to any ingredients that may cause the skin to break out after the treatment.
How about HydraFacial™ during pregnancy?
It is best to ask a doctor before undergoing any aesthetic procedures while pregnant, including HydraFacial™.
Whilst the above may be necessary, at Health & Co. we do not recommend having this procedure done with the Peel element whist a woman is pregnant, same goes for women who are breastfeeding.
HydraFacial™ vs other treatments?
HydraFacial™ vs. microdermabrasion
Like a HydraFacial™, exfoliates your skin. The key difference is that microdermabrasion doesn’t use serums.
HydraFacial™ vs. Dermal infusion
Dermal infusion has similar technology & benefits to a HydraFacial™. Both are 3-in-1 procedures that cleanse, exfoliate and deliver serums tailored to your skin concerns. Unlike a HydraFacial™, Dermal infusion may cause some redness & irritation afterward.
HydraFacial™ vs. Radio Frequency Therapy
While both HydraFacial™ & RF therapy address signs of skin ageing, RF doesn’t involve exfoliation or serums. RF may cause redness after each session.
How often should I get a HydraFacial™?
The Frequency of HydraFacial™ depends on your skin type and our HydraFacialist’s recommendations. We recommend repeating the treatment every 2-4 weeks.
